Founding member and lead singer Carlos Eduardo Osuna Gil was floored when heard Metallica’s “Turn the Page” at age XX. It drove the evolution of his musical interest, which began with the piano in Venezuela at age seven, toward the guitar. Benefitting from the encouragement of his mother, Eduardo repaid the gift after graduation form high school when she suffered an accident that left her in need of care for two years.

During this period he wrote most of Sifting’s repertoire. When his mother more or less recovered in 2004 he took the band to Caracas, where he enjoyed limited success. Her death in a plane crash, along with Eduardo’s grandmother, injected new drive into his life and the band has played to consistently increasing audiences since. He weaves elements from bands like Megadeth, Dream Theater, Green Day and Nirvana with his unique developed taste to create compelling compositions.
